MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) straps are a key component in various outdoor and tactical gear. Their design allows for convenient attachment of different equipment so users can customize their gear according to individual needs.
Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, military personnel, law enforcement, or a survivalist, mastering the art of weaving MOLLE straps will boost your gear organization and accessibility.
Understanding MOLLE Systems
Imagine your gear is like a grid. The MOLLE system uses straps and webbing to let you attach different pieces of equipment to that grid.
MOLLE systems are commonly used on battle belts, chest rigs, plate carriers, and other tactical gear.
The great thing about this is that you can arrange your gear in a way that makes sense to you. Maybe you want your flashlight on the left side of your battle belt and your knife on the right. With MOLLE, you can do that.
How to Weave Traditional MOLLE
Let’s walk through the standard process of weaving MOLLE straps and discuss some common challenges faced during weaving.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Lay out your gear
- Start by laying your battle belt or other gear flat on a surface.
- This will give you a clear view of the MOLLE webbing where you’ll be weaving your straps.
Thread the strap
- Take one end of your MOLLE strap (the end without the fastener) and push it through the first row of webbing from the top down.
Weave through the MOLLE attachment
- Next, push the strap upwards through the bottom of the first row of webbing on the MOLLE accessory you’re attaching.
Repeat the weaving process
- Continue this process, alternating between the gear and the MOLLE attachment, until the strap is fully woven through all rows of webbing.
Secure the strap
- Once the strap is fully woven, secure it by tucking the tongue into the final pocket or attaching it to the fastener.
Challenges of Traditional MOLLE Weaving
While the MOLLE system provides excellent customization options, traditional weaving techniques can present a few problems:
- Difficulty in threading: MOLLE straps are typically made of rigid materials, which can make it difficult to thread through the tightly woven webbing.
- Time-consuming: The process of weaving MOLLE straps can be time-consuming, especially for beginners or when attaching larger accessories that require multiple straps.
- Rigidity: The rigidity of traditional MOLLE straps can make it challenging to weave them through smaller webbing or around more complex gear setups.
These challenges are what led to the development of the Blue Alpha MOLLE Strap, which is designed to be easier to weave and more flexible than traditional straps.
Blue Alpha’s MOLLE Strap
The Blue Alpha MOLLE Strap is a blend of hard and soft components. It’s not the hard plastic of the Malice Clips or the soft attachment of the WTF Strap.
Our MOLLE Strap is the goldilocks of MOLLE straps.
And it’s a solution that will transform the way you customize your tactical gear.
Flexible and secure
Our unique mix ensures the Strap maintains its rigidity for secure attachment while offering the flexibility needed to weave through even the most complex gear setups.
Easy to use
Its user-friendly design reduces the time and effort required in traditional MOLLE weaving.
Adaptable to different gear
The real beauty of the Blue Alpha MOLLE Strap lies in its versatility.
Whether you’re setting up a tactical vest, attaching pouches to a battle belt, or customizing a backpack, this strap allows for a wide range of applications.
Its flexibility makes it easy to adapt to different gear setups, providing you with endless possibilities for personalizing your equipment.
How to Weave Blue Alpha’s MOLLE Strap
Attaching your gear to your battle belt or other tactical gear with our MOLLE Strap works like weaving traditional MOLLE.
However, the unique design of our MOLLE Strap makes it easier to weave through your gear compared to other straps.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Lay out your gear
- Start by laying your belt or other gear flat on a surface.
- If your webbing is too tight, lift your belt or gear up slightly so a gap forms in the webbing.
Thread the strap
- Take the end of the Blue Alpha MOLLE Strap without the fastener and push it through the first row of webbing on your gear from the bottom up.
- Pull the Strap until the square fastener is against the bottom of the first row of webbing.
Weave through the MOLLE attachment
- Next, pull the Strap through the bottom of the first row of webbing on the MOLLE gear you’re attaching.
- Then weave it back through the top MOLLE row pulling it tight.
Repeat the weaving process
- Continue this process – alternating between the gear and the MOLLE Strap – until the Strap is woven through all rows of webbing.
Secure the strap
- Once the Blue Alpha Strap is fully woven, push the tongue of the Strap through the first row of MOLLE and pull it tight.
- Then tuck the tongue of the Strap into the fastener pocket.
