Bring More to the Fight With the Stock Sock

Prepared, efficient, and adaptable. These three words represent a few of the most important characteristics that all human beings should strive to be. Whether you are a member of the military, an avid outdoorsman, or someone focused on defending your home, you will find it easier to accomplish your goals with a Stock Sock from Blue Alpha.

A patrol officer working alone doesn’t have time to wait for backup in the midst of a dangerous situation. When your back door is kicked in at 2:00 am, you don’t have time to wonder where you stored the gear to protect your family in the situation. The Stock Sock ensures that when you grab your most essential piece of self-defense, your weapon, all the other gear you must have is with you.

What is a Stock Sock?

The Stock Sock was created to be better prepared for the fights we may face in our lives. It is a modular attachment that fits almost every common AR rifle stock and pistol brace. This sock allows you to attach needed tools or items to the stock of your firearm for quick and convenient use and packing.

Its purpose is to serve as a platform where we can store essential equipment. Tourniquets, chem lights, wound packing material, and more can be kept closer than arm’s reach for our most stressful moments.

Whether we are facing a home invader or are miles back in the wilderness pursuing dangerous game, some situations don’t give us time to grab battle belts or prepped bags of gear. Military personnel, law enforcement, outdoor enthusiasts, and homeowners alike have started to count on the Stock Sock as a vital piece of their equipment.

What It’s Made Of

Blue Alpha’s Stock Sock is the brainchild of three impressive groups of people: Sam Houston of Silent Solutions, Greenline Tactical, and Warrior Poet Society. It is made of laser cut Squadron (a laminated heavy-duty fabric) and comes with three bungee shock cords to let each user configure it however they see fit. A grippy texture inside of the sock makes sure it doesn’t slide around on our stock during use.

The way the Squadron fabric is used makes it look like we have a piece of flexible pegboard on the butt of our rifle. Adjustable bungee shock cords are used to secure the sock to the rifle as well as the attachments we choose. The compatibility and modularity of this new tool are impressive. Users will be able to set up their Stock Socks however they choose and in the way that most benefits them.

There is a built-in cheek rest and even window cuts that allow for QD sling attachments. This allows us to stow and manage a sling for storage, vehicle transport, or regular use. We also will not have any trouble matching the Stock Sock with our AR because of the color options available: Black, Multicam, Black Multicam, Coyote Brown, Wolf Gray, and Ranger Green.

The Stock Sock’s Purpose

Original designer Sam Houston realized his need for this piece of gear while running an outfitter service chasing feral pigs in Florida. Long hunts and scouting trips required as little weight to pack as possible. Therefore Houston began to improve upon the method of gauze and Ranger bands he had seen soldiers and police use to carry equipment on their M4s.

A few years, many sketches, and some tweaks at Blue Alpha’s plant in Georgia and the last few design hurdles were overcome. Now, the Stock Sock can fit almost every production AR stock thanks to the adaptability of the bungee shock cord. Also, by using a grid layout, they increased the modularity on both sides of the stock.

To best summarize the purpose of the Stock Sock, consider this from Sam Houston. “All gun fights are a competition, where everybody shoots open class and the winner is the one, not with the best time, but with the fastest and most combat effective hits, and ‘you run what you brung’.

If you need a way to carry some lifesaving or mission sustaining gear, then the Stock Sock might be the answer for you.”

Additional Uses and Mods

Although it seems like the outside of the sock is where most additions are intended to go, we can also store items like a chem light inside of the sock against the butt of your gun. If a tool has a clip on it, this can be slid onto the sock from the inside to secure it, or we can just let the pressure from the bungee shock cords hold it in place.

Designed Tourniquet Compatibility

One of the primary tools meant to be carried on the Stock Sock is a tourniquet. We know that any emergency scenario may leave you wishing you had one. A stock platform that does not give you the option to carry a tourniquet, while still usable, is missing a big component.

If you have never witnessed the effectiveness of a tourniquet in a life or death situation, it is hard to realize how valuable they are. When a main artery like the femoral artery is hit by a knife or bullet, it only takes a few minutes for someone to die from blood loss. You must stop the blood from flowing freely. Having a tourniquet on hand to apply between the wound and the heart makes someone six times more likely to survive such an injury.

A tourniquet can be left on a victim for up to two hours. This allows an opportunity for backup to arrive on the scene, paramedics to arrive at your house, or a hunting buddy to reach you in the woods. If you, or a loved one, have a life threatening wound and you do not have a tourniquet to keep the blood from flowing, no excuse will be good enough for your conscience after the incident is over.

Tool Options

Blue Alpha has an entire line of gear that is compatible with the Stock Sock and your weapon of choice. The tourniquet specific holder is already a built-in option when purchasing your Stock Sock. In addition, belt lanyards and Flatline Slings can also be picked up to complete your setup.

Stock Sock Testimonials

Reading reviews online makes it clear that the Stock Sock is doing what it was designed to do. Customers have these Socks mounted on multiple makes and models; the M4A1 SOPMOD, SLK, STS, and MOE are a few examples. The cheek mold and bungee shock cords seem to be the most popular features, and people are finding new modifications as they tinker with it every day.
